Opportunities for New Doctoral Students

The Biomedical Informatics Group is not actively searching for new doctoral students at the moment.

If you are highly interested in our research fields and feel qualified to apply we are looking forward to your application. A prerequisite for you as an ideal candidate is a solid technical education (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Math, Physics) and a vivid interest in Medical Informatics, Genomics and/or Molecular Biology. Please make sure to respect the formal requirements below.

We participate in multiple graduate programs offered by the Life Science Zurich Graduate School of ETH Zürich and University of Zürich. In particular the Molecular and Translational Biomedicine program, the Epidemiology and BiostatisticsMolecular Life Sciences program and the Systems Biology program. Prospective graduate students may apply directly to any of the above graduate programs and mention Gunnar Rätsch in their application. In addition, it may help to write an informational email to Gunnar Rätsch when the application has been submitted to one of the programs.

Alternatively, direct applications can be sent via email to Gunnar Rätsch. Please note that we will only process applications that meet the following formal requirements:

  • use "#application #phd " in the subject line of your email
  • include the following documents: CV, personal statement, university transcripts.

For more information, please contact Gunnar Rätsch and use “#info #application #phd” in the subject line.

Please note: We do not directly accept students for a direct doctorate. If you are interested, you can apply to the Direct Doctorate in Computer Science at ETH Zurich (there is a selection procedure).
