The Rätsch Lab moves to ETH Zürich

Date 29 May 2016

The Rätsch Group moved from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, NY, USA to the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zürich.

Gunnar Rätsch joined the Computer Science Department as a full professor of the Biomedical Informatics program in May 2016. The Rätsch Group develops machine learning algorithms for the analysis of biological and medical data.

Our research lies at the heart of personalized medicine and we hope to contribute greatly to the ETH´s initiative in the field. The combination of excellent teaching and interdisciplinary research that is responsive to public needs was a key factor in joining ETH. The proximity to the University Hospital in Zurich, the medical faculty at the University of Zurich and the planned sharing of data and tools with them, the shared infrastructure as well as the specific set-up of our projects and last but not least, our office space at the University Hospital will allow for close collaborations with short communication routes.

We are very excited, curious and ready to embrace new challenges and questions to expand our research topics and we are “looking for trouble” aka new problems that we can address.

Our offices are located at

ETH Zurich, Department of Computer Science, CAB F52.2–F53.1
and at
Universitätsspital Zürich, Schmelzbergstrasse 26, SHM 26 B3-B5
